Step out for Parkinson’s this December

Step out for people with Parkinson’s this December by taking part in a #parkinsonsdailymile to raise funds and awareness of our life-enhancing projects.

What is the #parkinsonsdailymile?

To help with our annual December fundraising campaign, all you have to do is:

  1. Walk, run, or cycle a mile a day every day from 1st to 24th December

  2. Share your progress on social media by tagging us and using the hashtags #parkinsonsdailymile and #qipmas

  3. Ask your friends and family for donations to our fundraising page.

What is Quality in Parkinson’s?

Quality in Parkinson’s is a small charity set up to boost the quality of life of people living with Parkinson’s.

Other great charities focus on finding a cure and funding treatments - we concentrate on funding mood-boosting and symptom-alleviating activities like dance classes, fitness groups, and art therapy.

Our charity was founded by Ray Wegryzn, who developed young onset Parkinson’s at the age of just 39.

Who can do the #parkinsonsdailymile?

Everyone is welcome to join our annual December fundraising challenge!

Simply lace up your shoes and get outside to enjoy your daily mile, then share your progress with us and send your friends and family the link to donate.

What will the money raised be used for?

We fund projects that make every day a little brighter for people with Parkinson’s.

Living with Parkinson's can be challenging, but there are things you can do to manage your symptoms and live a full and productive life.

Some of the challenges experienced by people with challenges include:

  • Movement problems: Parkinson's can cause tremors, stiffness, and slowness of movement. These symptoms can make it difficult to perform everyday tasks such as getting dressed, bathing, and eating.

  • Cognitive problems: Some people with Parkinson's also experience cognitive problems, such as memory loss, difficulty concentrating, and changes in mood. These problems can make it difficult to manage work, finances, and relationships.

  • Sleep problems: Many people with Parkinson's have trouble sleeping. This can be due to the disease itself, or to medications used to treat it. Sleep problems can make it difficult to cope with the other symptoms of Parkinson's.

Despite these challenges, many people with Parkinson's are able to live full and productive lives with the help of medication, therapy, and lifestyle changes.

We’ve experienced that first hand, as our founder Ray has Parkinson’s himself, and all of our trustees have personal experience of it.

So, we fund projects that help people with Parkinson’s manage their symptoms, maintain their independence, and discover a newfound purpose in life.

Because sometimes, having a reason to get out of the house and connect with others doing something that eases your physical symptoms and boosts your mental health can be the difference between a good day and a bad day.

Will you help us bring a smile to the face of people with Parkinson’s?
